US Navy Plans For Solar Energy Panel Satellites

According to one report, the largest consumer of oil in the world is the United States military, so the Navy is developing a solar power panel satellite that would decrease their dependence on fossil fuel. They want to be able to capture solar energy from space, and beam it down to Earth, which would make military missions much easier since fuel wouldn't have to be carried to remote locations.
